Let’s Talk About Those 1500W Ruby Halogen Lamps

If you’re running PET blowing machines, you know that getting the preheat just right is half the battle. That’s why we built these 1500W lamps. At 720mm long, they’ve got plenty of surface area to make sure your preforms get heated evenly, rather than ending up with weird cold spots. The Heat Factor 1500W is a lot of power. It’s designed to hit that glass transition temperature fast, which keeps your line moving. To handle that kind of heat without warping or snapping, we use high-purity quartz glass. One quick tip: since these pull a decent amount of power over that 720mm stretch, just double-check your power supply. You don’t want any voltage drops, because that’s a one-way ticket to uneven heating. Why the Ruby Coating? You’ll notice the “half white ruby” look. It’s not there to look pretty. Standard halogen lamps throw out a huge range of infrared radiation, which can be a bit chaotic. The ruby coating acts like a filter. It focuses the heat exactly where it needs to go, so you can crank up the temperature without accidentally scorching the outside of the plastic while the core is still cold. It basically lets you push the heat harder without ruining your material. Getting Them Installed These are simple drop-in replacements for your existing arrays. Wiring them up is a breeze. But here is the big warning:don’t touch the quartz with your bare hands. Seriously. The oils from your skin leave invisible marks that turn into hot spots. Once the lamp heats up for the first time, those spots can cause the glass to crack. Grab some lint-free gloves and you’ll be fine. Also, keep in mind that the ruby coating changes the light output a bit compared to clear quartz. You might find you need to tweak your conveyor speed or timer settings a little bit to get your cycle time back to where you want it.
