Let’s Talk Industrial Halogen Heating
We make halogen lamps, but forget about the light bulbs in your living room. These are heavy-duty heat sources. We use a halogen cycle to stop the tungsten from evaporating, which basically means the filament lasts way longer even while it’s running screaming hot. Getting the power right The real secret here is the wattage-to-length ratio. If you cram a lot of wattage into a short tube, you get an intense burst of heat. That’s exactly what you need if your process has to move fast. We can tweak the voltage to fit whatever grid you’re running. If you go with high-voltage tubes, you’ll draw less current. That’s a win for your control panel because you can use thinner wires and smaller contactors. Simple as that. Quartz and Connectors Since these things get incredibly hot, we use high-purity quartz glass. It handles the thermal shock without cracking. For the ends, we usually stick with R7s or SK15 connectors—they’re standard, so they should slide right into your existing heaters without any drama. Now, you have a choice on the glass. Clear quartz lets the shortwave heat punch straight through. But if you’re working with materials that have a lot of water in them, go with the coated tubes. They shift the heat to a medium-wave, which those materials soak up much better. Putting them to work You’ll see these in everything from PET blowing machines to those long curing lines and drying tunnels. The best part? They hit full temperature instantly. No more standing around waiting for resistive elements to warm up. But here’s a heads-up: high-wattage tubes put out a massive amount of localized heat. If you’re shoving a 2500W tube into a tight box,**make sure your cooling fans can actually handle it.**If the airflow is weak, you’re going to fry your sockets and kill the lamp way sooner than you should. One last thing—double-check your reflector angles. You want that energy hitting your workpiece, not melting your machine frame.
