You’ll love the ramp-up time, but that intensity can be tough on your reflectors. Do yourself a favor and keep your gold or aluminum reflectors spotless. If they’re dusty or grimy, you’re basically throwing away a huge chunk of your energy. Why quartz and X-clips? We use high-purity quartz glass to keep the halogen cycle moving. This stops the tungsten filament from evaporating and clouding up the inside of the tube. It keeps things clear, which means your lamps last a lot longer. Now, about the mounting. We include X-clips for a reason. Quartz doesn’t like to be squeezed. If you use tight metal brackets, the glass will likely crack the moment the filament hits peak temperature. The X-clips let the tube “float” and expand naturally. It’s a small detail, but it saves you from a messy breakage.
