Let’s Talk About Heavy-Duty Infrared Lamps
When you’re setting up heat for livestock or industrial curing, the instinct is to go straight for the big-name brands. We get it. But we’ve spent a lot of time building our lamps to hit those same benchmarks. The idea is simple: you get a lamp that drops right into your existing setup and puts out the same heat, just without that “premium brand” price tag.
The Nitty-Gritty on Heat and Power
It all comes down to how wattage, voltage, and tube length play together. For the heavy-duty stuff, we crank up the wattage while keeping the size exactly the same as the original. If you’re running a high-voltage setup, you’re getting more punch per millimeter of quartz. It means things heat up faster.Really fast. Just a heads-up, though: pushing that much power through a small tube puts a lot of stress on your connectors. Make sure your wiring can actually handle the peak current, or you’re going to see some nasty burn-out at the terminals.
Quartz, Coatings, and Why They Actually Matter
We use high-purity quartz glass and fill it with halogen. Why? Because it keeps the filament from evaporating too quickly. That’s usually where those cheap, bargain-bin lamps fall apart. Some of our models also have a special coating that shifts the emission spectrum. Instead of just scorching the surface, the heat actually sinks deeper into whatever you’re warming up. It’s a subtle difference that makes a huge impact on the end result.
Getting Them to Work in the Real World
We stick to standard R7s or Sk15 connectors. You can just wire them into your current controllers—no need to hack apart your housing or rebuild the frame. Now, these lamps are tough. They can handle the dust and humidity of a working farm or factory, but they aren’t invincible. Here is a pro tip:**Keep your reflectors clean.**We’ve seen it time and again—if your reflector is pitted or dirty, you’re losing about 20% of your heat. It doesn’t matter how fancy the lamp is if the mirror behind it is trashed. Clean those reflectors and you’ll feel the difference immediately.
